John Georgiadis - WebMaestro! John Georgiadis, conductor and violinist, and now WebMaestro! John’s
lifelong interest in new technologies, stimulated by the childhood setting up
of two way communications from bedroom to treehouse
(anything to avoid violin practise!), was inevitably going to lead him to the
world wide web.
Musicians Gallery website can be found at: www.musiciansgallery.com.
John has also built other sites including our site at:
www.maslink.co.uk. If you would like
to have John build a website for you, or construct a page for you in
Musicians Gallery, or if you’d simply like some help in understanding it all,
then email him on:- jongeorg@globalnet.com

MAS Young Professionals Support
Scheme Goes From Strength to Strength A support scheme that commenced last year for younger
professionals starting a career in the orchestral world has been an
unprecedented success. Dozens of
musicians have taken up the service that comes free of charge and without
obligation to join MAS at any stage. The service is offered by Richard Smith whose wide
experience across the field of orchestral freelancing and session work, along
with the overview given to him through running MAS, is an invaluable asset to
young professionals launching themselves into the vagaries of the music
profession. A pilot series of seminars and tutorials was set up last
academic year to post-graduates at the Royal College of Music. They covered a variety of subjects from a
general awareness of the areas that need to be addressed when launching a
career in music to specific tutorials in CV production, self-promotion and
creativity. |
Worried
about
speaking to Audiences? Terrified of talking to fixers or parents of
pupils? Brian Sewell has run workshops/ tutorials in Public Speaking,
Evaluation Techniques and Presentation Skills. Call him via MAS or email on brisew@globalnet.co.uk. His website is at www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~brisew/ Stella
Dickinson’s first CD! Stella Dickinson has just released her CD Love’s Lore to critical acclaim. Her first solo album, recorded with Capital
Virtuosi, contains 18 folk melodies arranged by Paul Hart for oboe and cor-anglais with string sextet. Here’s what the critics said: This one
should keep Classic FM listeners happy for many years to come... it is
timeless, beautiful and evocative of happier days. What’s On Magazine, July 99 ...translucently
captured and immaculately played (rated 4 stars)

it is possible for a great deal of help to be given to those people who are

this month. So if you would like to update
your current CV, or have not yet added yours to our publication and would
like to be included, please let us have your CV as soon as possible. Remember it is free and goes out to all the
fixers we deal with regularly, as well as going on the website. REMEMBER! The next CV deadline is the beginning of
September. Read all about it... If there is anything you’d like to see in the
next newsletter please let us know. We
appreciate your comments and would love to hear from you if you have any
contributions, news or ideas. Remember
the newsletter has a large readership - all your fellow clients, and all the
fixers we deal with regularly. It is
also available on our website. |
The musicians taking up the service have come from a
variety of sources. Many have been
those who have attended seminars, others have been referred to Richard by
professors and careers advisors within the colleges. A further series of seminars and tutorials are planned
for the coming year at the majority of the major conservatoires throughout
the UK. Each series will differ from
college to college, dependent on the areas of resources, both human and
financial, that the various colleges are able to supply in-house. External expertise will be drawn from a
variety of specialists in the fields to be covered. For more information about this scheme contact Richard
Smith on his direct line:- 01306 508100 |
