New on-line resource for
live music LiveMusicSearch (LMS) is a unique on-line listings and search facility
for those wishing to book live music of all genres for a variety of social
occasions. LMS was set up by MAS
member Alan Brown together with Mark Thistlewood and Jazz Services Ltd to
meet the growing need of both musician and potential client to advertise and
source live music in an immediate, user-friendly way. It offers an accessible, free service to
individuals and organisations, enabling them to book musicians/bands
directly. LMS carries information on musicians and bands from across the UK who
are available for live bookings.
Musicians/bands from all musical genres are represented – from jazz
and classical through to rock and pop – each providing live music for all
types of event, including weddings, corporate conventions, charity functions,
dinners, dances, etc. The database is easily searchable by a number of relevant criteria:
location, budget, style of music, type of event etc. The FAQ section helps potential clients
with their choice, and booking contract templates, supplied by the MU, are
downloadable. For an annual fee of only £10 musicians/bands can register their
contact details, give a brief description of themselves and secure a link to
their own website. Enhanced features
such as photos, sound clips and playlists can also be included at no extra
charge. Musicians are responsible for,
and encouraged to maintain, their own listings. For musicians and potential clients alike, www.LiveMusicSearch.co.uk
is an invaluable one-stop-shop for the promotion of professional live music
making. To register, go to www.LiveMusicSearch.co.uk/register. For more information, please email alan@TakeNote.co.uk
Diary on the Web Update Clients can access their diaries over the internet. If you are
interested in trying this new facility, please call the office and we can
sign you up. At the time of signing up you will be given access codes and
passwords, which will give you exclusive access to your own diary, no-one
else apart from MAS will be able to see it. You will also be given a choice
of how much access you would like to have to your diary. Do not be put off, the system is generally self-explanatory if used in
conjunction with the user manual. We
do however have some dynamic software, which enables us with your permission
(on a sessions by session basis), to take control of your PC and show you how
to manipulate the system. On this basis we will be able to offer a restricted
amount of training and user support, initially available directly via Richard
Smith. |
