BIOGRAPHY

Helena Ruinard studied with Yossi Zivoni at the Royal College of Music until 2001, supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, and before that at Selwyn College, Cambridge, where she held an Intercollegiate Instrumental Award. Since graduating from the RCM she has pursued a freelance career, playing with various orchestras including that of Welsh National Opera, the English Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and various period instrument ensembles whilst giving concerts with pianists, with the Navarra String Quartet and other chamber ensembles. In smaller ensembles she has played a significant number of contemporary pieces, including premieres of work by Phillip Neil Martin, Kalevi Aho, Mark Bowden and Anna Meredith. Last year she was a member of the new orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, with which she gave a performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto in G major at the Anghiari Festival, Italy.
